Guidelines for the Advanced Language Certificate in Portuguese
If you would like to fulfill, or have fulfilled the certificate requirements, please declare intent to earn a certificate by the last day of add/drop period in your final term of enrollment.
This is done on the Declare Major, Concentration within the Major, Certificate page on Yale Hub. Once declared, Degree Audit will track your progress toward completion of the certificate.
1. At least two of the four required courses must be designated as L5. Eligible courses include all PORT courses that hold an L5 designation.
2. At least one of the four required courses must be at the 3000 level (an advanced undergraduate course or seminar). Such courses may count if course materials are read in Portuguese and work for the course is written in Portuguese.
3. A maximum of one course may be taken abroad, as part of a Yale or Yale designated program.
4. The DUS for Portuguese will review and approve all courses to be applied to the certificate.
