Lourdes Sabé, Senior Lector of Spanish, with the assistance of Ryan McEvoy, a podcast and video producer at the Yale Broadcast Studio, and Kristian Wingo, a website designer and language technology specialist at the Center for Language Study, has created Yale en primera persona: Narrativas hispanas. This website serves as a digital repository featuring interviews with members of the Spanish-speaking community at Yale University.

We hope that Yale en primera persona will be a valuable Open Educational Resource (OER) for learners, instructors, and the general public, facilitating linguistic, cultural, and social analysis. The interviews include native and heritage speakers, as well as with Spanish learners, and touch on topics such as resilience, overcoming challenges, longing, joy, family memories, interests, and travels, among others.

The content of is the result of a professional development leave awarded by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The project aimed to collect narratives by members of the Spanish-speaking community at the university to enhance their visibility on campus, celebrate the Spanish language, and honor the Hispanic cultures represented in this vibrant community and beyond.

The digital platform can be accessed at https://enprimerapersona.yale.edu/. The site also provides suggestions on how to incorporate these clips in the language classroom.

A special note of appreciation goes to all interviewees for sharing their stories and contributing to this meaningful project!
