Kenneth David Jackson, defended in 1972, under the direction of the late Jorge de Sena, a doctoral thesis entitled Vanguardist prose in Oswald de Andrade. Two chapters of this thesis, devoted to the analysis of the Oswaldian Miramar and Seraphim, preceded by an introduction to the problem of avant-garde prose, constitute the subject of this book. In addition to being an agile critic of the interpretative plane, the author (in collaboration with Alberto Bork) is responsible for the creative transposition of Serafim Ponte Grande into English.
