Jesús Velasco
Velasco works on Law and Humanities in the Medieval Mediterranean basin. His latest books include Dead Voice: Law, Philosophy, and Fiction in the Iberian Middle Ages (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2020), and Microliteratures: The Production of the Margins in Medieval and Early Modern Iberian Books (Cornell University Press, 2025). His work has been published in New Literary History, Hispanic Review, La Corónica, Cahiers d’Études Hispaniques Médiévales, or Studi Ispanici, among many others. He is currently preparing a book-length monograph tentatively titled Law and Humanities: The Question of Fiction from a Medieval Iberian Perspective. Jesús is teaching a series of graduate seminars on Law and Humanities (two installments so far, on fiction and on emotions), and undergraduate courses that delve into the many complexities of the multilingual and multiconfessional Iberian world (including, for instance: The End of the World, Rebels and Public Humanities, or Critical Contexts in Iberian Cultures).
