Maria Pilar Asensio-Manrique
Pilar Asensio received her Ph. D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an M. A. in Spanish Linguistics from California State University, Los Angeles. She holds extensive training and professional experience in bilingual education and foreign language acquisition. She has researched and published articles about the cultural and literary activities of the Spanish liberals exiled in England in the first half of the nineteenth century and their legacies in the development of Hispanism. Her current interests include Spanish translation, teaching writing in Spanish, and the linguistic and cultural goals and challenges presented by study-abroad immersion programs.
