Sofía Fernández González
Sofía R. Fernández González is a doctoral student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Her interests include Galician diaspora, performance and dance studies, autofiction, self-bricolage, expanded poetry and environmental humanities. Her academic and non-academic articles and reviews have appeared or are forthcoming at Boletín Galego da Literatura, LL Journal, Chasqui, Clara Corbelhe and The Brooklyn Rail. R. Fernández González studied psychology and philosophy in Spain, and was an exchange student at Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico, in 2016. She completed her MA in Philosophy from Universidade Santiago de Compostela in 2021, and later moved to New York on a Fulbright Fellowship to further her dance studies at José Limón Dance Institute.
R. Fernández González is the co-organizer of the multilingual-performative event Argalogia, held bi-annually at Yale. She is also the organizer of Galician Tables, held monthly from Spring 2025. As a writer, she has published Alalá (Arteidolia Press, 2024), Os Corpos Fráxiles (Aira Editorial, 2024) and Canícula (Edicións Laiovento, 2025), and is the translator and editor of New Galician Plays (The Segal Center Publications, 2025). She has directed and staged the multilingual play Ti Xa Tes! at Yale in December 2024. Prior to coming to Yale, she worked as a dance educator, as well as an archivist at the Vicente Risco Cultural Foundation.
