Doctoral Candidates - Chapter Slams

For this special event, we invite all of you, and any friends from other departments, to presentations from our graduate students who are in the middle of writing their dissertations.

Our inaugural event will be MondayApril 20, 1:30-3:30pm in room HQ 134featuring:

Sofía Masdeu Rocha, presenting “Undigested Narratives: The 1516 Cannibalization of Juan Díaz de Solís in the Making of an Originary Fantasy”;
Inês Forjaz de Lacerda, presenting “Liminal Time and Space in Macau”; and,
Orit Gugenheim Katz, presenting “Autor Errante: Gabriel García Márquez and the Wandering Jew.”

Each of our wonderful presenters will have 20 minutes to present, and 20 minutes to be in dialogue with us. I volunteer to serve as moderator and MC. At the end, we will have 20 minutes to spare to continue the conversation informally.

Hope to see as many of you as can possibly make it—graduates and faculty.
