Luce López-Baralt is a Distinguished Professor (Insignis Professor) of Spanish and Comparative Literatures at the University of Puerto Rico and a Harvard PhD, has lectured extensively in Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia. Recipient of an Honorary PhD from the University of Puerto Rico, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Royal Order of Isabel la Católica, the Premio Internacional Henríquez Ureña (México) and several honorary professorships in Spain and Latin America. Has been Visiting Professor and Scholar at Harvard, Yale, Brown, Rabat, Buenos Aires and Mexico Universities. Is vicepresident of the Academia Puertorriqueña de la Lengua Española and correspondent of the Real Academia Española, and has been vicepresident of the Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas and a member of the board of several journals (Nueva Revista de Filología Hispánica (México), Hispanística (New Delhi), Sigila (Paris), Miscelánea de Estudios Árabes y Hebraicos (Granada). Served in the Scientific Committee for the Study of Iberoamerican Literature (Leipzig Universität), Islamic Studies Advisory Board (Lahore, Pakistan), Comité International d’Études Morisques (Zaghouan, Tunisia), among others. Her 30 books and more than 300 articles on comparative Spanish and Arabic literatures and mysticism, aljamiado-moorish and Latin American literatures have been published in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Croatian, Arabic, Dutch, Persian, Chinese and Urdu.
