Lost in Plain Sight: The Life and Legacy of Gaspar Cassadó

“Lost in Plain Sight” is an international humanities project exploring the life, legacy and work of 20th century Spanish cellist and composer, Gaspar Cassadó, contextualizing his music in a dynamic concert and lecture experience, featuring chamber players from the Appalachian Chamber Music Festival. Regarded as one of the top cellists of the 20th century, Gaspar Cassadó’s name and history remain mostly forgotten in Spain and abroad. This recital presents a combination of lecture and performance, where the audience is invited to learn about the life and work of Cassadó and listen to his unpublished third string quartet. The project is led by Dr. H Rosi Song and Katie Tertell and is supported in part by a Research Impact Award through Durham University (UK) and involves several award-winning, internationally recognized musicians.

Co-sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, the Whitney Humanities Center, CLAIS, and the European Studies Council, with the support of the Research Impact Fund from Durham University (UK).
